Ergonomic Office Chairs – A Smart Solution For a Healthy Workstation

The right, ergonomic office chairs can do wonders for your business. A quality office chair is especially necessary for those who spend a great deal of time sitting at a desk or in front of the computer. An ergonomic chair helps attain proper, comfortable and adjustable sitting postures. This in turn translates into reduced strain on the lower back and thus fewer complaints of back ache. Apart from providing a comfortable working position, good office chairs also enhance productivity and eliminate absenteeism.Traditional office chairs of the past often restricted comfortable postures. However, the new generation office chairs today meet basic standards of comfort, adjustability and affordability. Comfort level of an office chair indicates how well it supports the back, legs, buttocks, and arms. Ergonomic construction of backrest, seat, armrests, and base is an integral segment of comfortable office chairs. The adequate support of good chairs almost completely eliminates inconvenient postures that may lead to strain and pain at the end of the day.Selecting The Right Office Chairs For Your BusinessBefore purchasing office chairs, it is important to consider your unique office environment. For instance, if more than one employee uses a certain office chair during the day, it is vital to consider the feature of easy adjustability. Adjustability enables a variety of sitting postures for a single user or multiple users. It is obviously impossible to judge the adjustable nature of a chair simply by viewing it. Thus, it is best to try out various sitting positions on different office chairs and decide on the one that provides adequate support and comfort. There are a few guidelines to be followed while shopping for office chairs. Firstly, ensure that the backrest of the chair is aligned with the natural curvature of your spine to provide adequate support to your lower back. Next, check if the height of the chair permits resting your feet on the floor. Then examine how soft and comfortable the seat of the chair and the armrests are. Finally, it is best to go in for a chair with a five-ended base on rollers that enable easy movement in any direction. In response to changing office d?cor demands, there are plenty of internationally acclaimed furniture dealers who bring you the best in office furniture. Easy Desk Organization Tips – An Organizational System That Will Keep Your Desk Organized

It’s almost impossible to be creative and think clearly with a cluttered desktop. The more physical clutter piles up on your desktop space, the more mental clutter you’ll face when you sit down to work. To avoid this problem, you’ll need a good desk organization system to ensure that everything has a proper place. You’ll want to start by keeping things that you work on every day on your desk. Projects that you don’t work on as often should go inside your desk, into a file cabinet, or onto a shelf. For example, if you’re currently working on a project, it’s fine to keep it on your desktop for easy access. But if you’ve got another project in the works, say for next week and especially if it’s for next month, put it away. Set up a reminder file for each pending project and store it in your desk or file cabinet. Here are a few basics that you’ll need in order to maximize the efficiency of your desk organization: Inbox and outbox – If you need to conserve space on your desk top, consider a wall mounted inbox and outbox. Or, if you prefer to keep projects at your fingertips, use a two-tier paper organizer on top of your desk. All incoming mail should go in the top tray (or the wall mounted box you designate as your inbox), and use the lower tray for items like mail, filing, and so on. Make sure you don’t use these as a catch-all for junk mail, outdated documents, and other kinds of paper clutter. In addition to mail and filing, you can also use your outbox for reminder notes to carry with you when you head out to run errands. Make sure to use brightly colored sticky notes to alert yourself to any paperwork that requires action so it doesn’t get lost in your outbox. Make it a habit to check your outbox whenever you head out the door, and do the filing at least once or twice a week. Keep reading and reference materials within easy reach in a small hanging file box or bin next to or under your desk. That way, you’ll have frequently used reference items close by as you work. Lighting – Make sure to use a desk lamp for proper lighting. A small table lamp is fine if space permits, or use a clip on lamp if you don’t have much room. Office supplies, phone, and computer – Make sure to keep office supplies within easy reach. Keep your phone and computer configured for easy access. Items that you use frequently should be kept on or in your desk. Pens, pencils, a stapler, a staple remover, paper fasteners, note pads, sticky notes, and so on, should be placed logically in an easy-to-reach place. Any item that isn’t used daily should be kept somewhere else. If your desk space is limited, maximize your work area by installing inexpensive shelves on the wall near your desk to store items for easy access. Seating – Use a comfortable chair. If you don’t have a good chair, purchasing one is a wise investment. Avoid back and rear-end pain from a bad chair and bad posture. To summarize, here are the basics you’ll need for optimal desk organization: * Lamp * Pens and pencils * Notepads * Inbox and outbox * Sticky Notes * Telephone * Computer Now that you know the basics of good desk organization, get to work and get your space working for you!

  • Dressing Up A Doctor’s Reception Room With The Right Furniture – by

Dressing Up A Doctor’s Reception Room With The Right Furniture

Unbeknownst to some doctors and medical professionals, some patients are very particular when it comes to how their clinics are decorated and designed. It should go without saying that a patient would most likely go to a clinic which looks clean and sterile as opposed to those rodent-infested ones. It is therefore important to give great emphasis on your clinic’s reception area and the way it is set up in order for you to gain and attract more patients’ and eventually more profit for your business. See to it that you are able to warmly welcome your patients in your reception room. This way they are made to feel that you sincerely care about them even while they are waiting for you to check them up. Your reception room furniture will play a big role in this aspect. Choose furniture that will serve your office’s purpose. Because this is a clinic, it is not appropriate to bring in fancy-looking furniture and equipment. It would give the patients a warm welcome to see comfortable chairs and tables where they can conveniently wait around for their turns to be called. Take also into consideration the budget you are willing to spend for your clinic furniture. Spending hundreds of thousands for signature furniture may make your clinic look fantastic, but do you really need these things to be that expensive when you can opt for those equally fantastic-looking sets at a cheaper price? Make sure that the furniture that you decide to buy will look coherent altogether. Remember that putting them all in one place will give them a personality of their own. See to it that the personality that your clinic furniture will show is appropriate for the profession you are practicing. Use your imagination. Your creativeness will play an important role in the decorating phase of your clinic. A new office look every now and then will give your patients the needed excitement and thrill every time they have an appointment with you. Do not cease to amuse them with a new clinic setup every time they’re scheduled to see you. There are no hard rules written when it comes to decorating your office or your clinic. One should not feel inhibited to create the right atmosphere of a place one is most likely to consider a home away from home – your clinic. With some thought and effort, you can choose the perfect furniture for your reception room.

  • Different Types Of Touch Screen Kiosks – by
By Reception Furniture on September 21st, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Different Types Of Touch Screen Kiosks

If you are planning a network of kiosks for information or retail supply purposes, touch screen kiosks can be a good choice. You can choose from the various different types of touch screen kiosks available today, depending upon the location and purpose of the kiosks. Here we discuss some touch screen technologies that are being used widely today. Resistive touch screens: Generally, these touch screen panels are the most used today because of their affordability and their durability. These screens are not affected by dust or water. However, they do not offer more than 85 clarity and the metallic coating on these panels can be damaged by sharp objects. Capacitive touch screens: These panels are coated with indium tin oxide that conducts a continuous electrical current across the sensor, which exhibits a precisely controlled field of stored electrons in both the horizontal and vertical axes. When a human finger, which also has stored electrons, touches these screens, the wave of electrical current is distorted. Electronic circuits measure this distortion in the sine wave, which is then mathematically processed for adequate reaction. These capacitive touch screens can be touched with bare fingers or conductive devices. These are not affected by outside elements and have high clarity. Surface wave touch screens: This screens use ultrasonic waves passing over the touch screen panels. When someone touches the panel, a part of the wave is absorbed, which is then processed. Only then can the command be executed. However, these touch screen panels are sensitive to dust, moisture, and other contaminations and can be easily damaged by these elements. Infrared touch screens: These infrared touch screen panels have now evolved to introduce more sophisticated touch screens. Earlier, you had to use warm hands to activate these screen commands, which needed thermal energy for inducing changes. Today, we have a better version that uses an array of vertical and horizontal IR sensors that detects the changes in a modulated light beam near the surface of the screen. These screens are the most durable and are heavily used in many military applications. All the above touch screen technologies can be implemented on a CRT monitor or on an LCD, as needed. • Desktop Do’s and Don’t’s and Office Desk Sets – by

Desktop Do’s and Don’t’s and Office Desk Sets

In the movie “Philadelphia”, Tom Hanks’ character Andrew Beckett got fired for losing a very important brief, even if it was just a trumped up charge. In real life, you might not get fired, but it would really reflect on your performance review, if your desk is a mess, and you can’t find things when you need them. You will also be wasting so much time looking for things instead of just doing what you’re supposed to.Office Desk SetsThese are valuable tools for desktop organizing, and they look pretty good too. A lot of office desk sets come with enough items in them to help you along. Office desk sets come in a minimalist 3 piece set, to the whole shebang of 12 pieces that will have everything from the desk blotter to paperclip holders. Essentially, though, the least that you need is the blotter, the pen/pencil holders, the knickknack box, calling card organizer, and the in and out trays. The idea is to minimize the stuff on top of your desk, after all.Office desk sets can be made of leather and wood, or plastics and acrylic, and can come in any color that you can think of. Just imagine how much nicer a leather desk blotter would look on top of you table than the mountains of paper that occupies it now.Now that you can be proud of the way your desktop looks with the help of that snazzy choice from all those other office desk sets, start choosing amongst the personalized desk wedges, so you can proudly mark your territory at the office.Getting Started1. Get a box and clear your desk of everything. EVERYTHING. Wipe it clean so that you will have a clean surface in which to place your stuff.2. Now place the desk set pieces in place. Everything should be at arm’s reach of where you are likely to sit, and faraway enough from the edges so that it won’t accidentally fall off.3. The Three Day Rule -The basic principle that you can stick to in your desk organizing project is this, if you’re not going to need it soon, it shouldn’t be on top of your desk. Which means that if you see something on your desk that you haven’t used in the last three working days, you’re not likely to use it in the next three working days either, so put it somewhere else, or throw it away.4. Next, fill the appropriate piece with the things it is meant to hold. Practice FIFO (first in, first out).5. Throw out what you don’t need and place everything else inside the drawer (Get a drawer organizer, too, while you’re at it.)Keeping Things OrganizedYou didn’t clean up your desk to let things pile up again after two months. Before you start losing sight of your desk blotter, keep ahead of the clutter, schedule a regular “clean-up” day at least once a month, and make sure you have everything in order.Your desk is your sanctuary, so give it the best you can. Visit ExecutiveGiftShoppe.com for the best office desk sets, personalized desk wedges, and maybe a leather desk blotter or two.Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Bradlley_Mckoy

  • Desks in the Home – by

    Desks in the Home

Desks can be placed in just about every room in the home. They are used for work and study, as well as entertainment. Whether you are a student, gamer or a full-time work at home businessperson, desks are important to the home. Custom-built desks are generally fastened to a wall, while pre-made units are positioned near a wall. An office desk in the home that stands alone allows others to sit in front perhaps to take notes or chat. Here is a list of the many types of desks in the home. Computer Desk Hall Desk Bedroom Desk Workshop Desk Kitchen Desk Make-up Desk Study Desk Office DeskDesks are generally 28″-30″ high allowing any standard chair to be used. The knee space is a standard 24″ high. This allows 4″-6″ for a pencil drawer or keyboard tray to be placed above the knees. Smaller desks can be sized down to 24″-26″ for children. The depth of a desk is 20″-24″ in most situations, if it is facing a wall anything deeper will be wasted. In the case of stand-alone office desks it can be 30″-36″ deep. Most desks today have a place for a desktop computer; this requires a cabinet to one side with no shelf to allow the tower to be enclosed inside. The monitor is placed on top directly in front of the user while the printer often times has a designated spot. A hole located on the desktop or in the back allows components to be connected.Desks with cabinets on each side of the knee space have drawers and doors built in, while some desks have upper cabinets mounted above providing additional storage. There are several forms of desks like pedestal desks and rolltop desks as well as different styles like U-shaped or L-shaped.With so many different designs of desks it pays to do some research and find out which suites you best. If you are buying a pre-built desk, your options can be limited. Your local cabinetmaker can custom-design a desk for you and build it exactly the way you want.Visit us at Hardwood Technology to learn more about Cabinets and WoodworkingArticle Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Chris_Looney

  • Decorating Passages And Entrance Halls – by
By Reception Furniture on September 10th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

    Decorating Passages And Entrance Halls

The decorative scheme of a hall and entrance passage should not clash with the color schemes of rooms that can be seen through doors opening off. As a general rule, the scheme for hall and entrance should be bright and welcoming, but it should not be too vivid or too resting. If the entrance hall faces north choose ivory, primrose or beige for the main colors. If the front door opens to the south choose green, buff or stone for the entrance hall. If the hall is on the small side it would be found best to use iron art, metal wall art and metal art sculptures of the same shades. A suitable color scheme for a small square hall in a modern house would be pale primrose for walls and woodwork with a floor stained in a light color and covered with a dark brown carpet or rug. The ceiling in such a hall should be a shade lighter than the color of the walls and the curtains. A small square hall would be attractive with hangings of rough textured cut sheet metal dyed yellow or gold; laser cut metal or metal etching can achieve this. Many attractive entrance hall decorative schemes may be planned with the use of wood grain wallpapers, which are available in a good variety of finishes and color. A polished pine would be the most suitable one to use for a small hall. A problem encountered in planning a decorative scheme for old houses is where a front door opens into a long narrow passage. Usually dark cream walls and woodwork will do much to create an attractive effect and if the floor is covered with linoleum of a light color and carpet. This will also help to give the entrance good proportions. A large piece of unique metal wall art can be hung near the door. Cold rolled steel wall art (a favored type is honey pinion steel wall art) will reflect light and give an appearance of greater breadth to a narrow passage. When a hall is being decorated in one color only, different shades of that color should be used where possible to add variety to the scheme, and the walls may be textured by using special plaster preparation that can be “combed” and textured in many ways. An alternative suggestion for halls is the use of wallpapers with small pattern or one with stripes. The skillful use of the pattern directions and designs can do much to change the appearance of rooms that may appear to be disproportionate, either being too long or too wide. Striped wallpaper or one in which the predominating trend of the pattern is vertical will make a room with a low ceiling look very much taller. If it is necessary to make the walls of a room appear to be wider than they are, then the predominating trend of the pattern design should run horizontally across the walls. If it is not required to change the appearance or depth or width of walls the pattern of the wallpaper should have no definite direction.
